Overall, 12,966 cars were sold in Norway during the month, up 25 per cent from a year earlier. Compared to the situation in September last year, the market share of electric vehicles has steadily increased. In the same period last year, new energy vehicles accounted for 93 percent of sales, of which 87 percent were pure electric vehicles and 6 percent were plug-in hybrid vehicles.
With the implementation of new safety regulations in Europe in July this year, many traditional fuel vehicles have gradually withdrawn from the market, making pure electric vehicles almost the only choice for users. Even if plug-in hybrids are still sold, their market share is only 1.13%, which is close to the 1.10% share of hybrid vehicles (HEVs). Diesel and gasoline cars have almost disappeared in the local market, with a market share of 1.04% and 0.37% respectively.
At the end of September, the share of pure electric vehicles in Norway reached 26.5% (760,903 vehicles), and the share of plug-in hybrid vehicles (PHEVs) was 7.2% (208,020 vehicles). Although the growth rate of pure electric vehicle ownership has slowed in the past year, the adoption of electric vehicles is still steadily underway. Currently, more than 95% of new car sales on the Norwegian market are fully electric.
